Two rudders - rack and pinion system

Example 180 shows the Rack and Pinion system in combination with two rudders. The RP system is the most simple and direct solution for twin rudder, single wheel boats.

Example 181 shows the Rack and Pinion system in combination with two rudders. The difference with example 180 is that the pedestal drives only the starboard rudder and a separate lever set is used to connect both rudders. This setup is easier to install and easier to connect an autopilot drive unit.

Example 182 shows the Rack and Pinion system in combination with two rudders. The rudder stocks are short and don't reach the deck. This can be overcome by extending the steering pedestal downshaft (see this page) and link to both rudders at the bottom of the hull.
