Example 231 shows a twin rudder - twin open wire system (Allures 51). The system is fully redundant as two identical systems drive each rudder which are linked by a draglink. Due to the constant high cable tension, both rudderstocks are pulled hard in the bearings. It's vital for a low friction system to make sure all bearings (rudder, sheaves steerer) are ball or roller bearings. Gliding bearings are absolutely not advisable. Please note the independent autopilot drive unit type Direct Drive type 1.
