Jefa Carbon Steering Wheels

Carbon wheels
Normally carbon wheels are produced in bits (separate spokes and rim parts) and glued together to make the complete wheel. Jefa carbon wheels are produced in a very big moulding in one go using vacuum technology. The big advantage is a much lighter, stiffer and stronger construction as the carbon fibres overlap in the complete wheel without any joints. The 2,1 Kg 900 mm, the 2,3 Kg 1000 mm, the 2,6 Kg 1100 mm, the 4,5 Kg 1700 mm and the 4,8 Kg 1900 mm carbon wheels are mostly available ex stock.The Jefa carbon wheels are CE approved.

The Jefa steering wheel tapers
All wheels up to 1500 mm have the 25 mm steering shaft taper, from 1600 mm diameter onwards the wheels have the 30 mm taper. All pedestals have the 25 mm shaft and some bulkhead steerers (BS30) and transmission steering boxes are build with the 30 mm steering shaft.
Cone adapter for hydraulic pumps
All wheels up to 1500 mm can be fitted with an adapter cone for a hydraulic pump with the "small cone" as in below sketch.

Wheel protecting covers
Wheel protection covers are available for wheel from 1000 to 1100 mm. They are made from neoprene, water and sun resistant and available in the color black.

Quick release wheel nut for fast wheel removal
The quick release nut is very handy when the steering wheel obstructs the free passage in the cockpit. It replaces the standard wheel nut and can be operated with a standard winch handle. This way the steering wheel can be quickly removed when not needed.

Quick release wheel nut for tandem and carbon wheels
The Jefa wheel disengagement unit
The carbon wheels can be fitted with a unit to prevent the wheel from rotating while under autopilot cruise. This steering wheel disengagement unit is only available for stainless tandem wheels and carbon wheels as the wheel hub of these type wheels is big enough to accommodate the mechanism. By rotating the black knob, the wheel is pulled backwards and 5 off pins disengage from a flange which is attached to the steering shaft. The wheel disengagement unit is a part of the steering wheel and not of the steering system. This means it can be fitted on existing steering systems. Please click on the picture for a larger view.
